SURGERIES PERFORMED IN OUR CLINIC
CROSSLINKING
Keratoconus is a progressive and incurable disease. Therefore, it is important to stop the progression of the disease. Crosslinking treatment method, which can stop the disease and has been applied in the world for 3-4 years, is applied in our hospital. In keratoconus patients, a dye called ribofilavin is dropped onto the weak and convex corneal layer, and it is waited for 30 minutes, and UV-A light is sent to the corneal base for 5 minutes. After this treatment, the corneal layer is strengthened. In keratoconus patients who apply with an increase in their eyeglass numbers, it is expected that the increase will stop after crosslinking and that their current numbers will decrease. This treatment method also prevents patients from going for corneal transplantation.
PHACO SURGERY
PHACO is a method known among the public as laser cataract surgery. In fact, this treatment uses ultrasonic wave power, not laser beams. In the PHACO method, there is no need to cut the eye and therefore stitch it. The patient can regain their eye health and return to their normal life on the same day. This procedure takes approximately 8 minutes. It is performed with drops. No anesthesia or bed rest is required.
EXCIMER LASER
Excimer Laser is a type of laser device used to treat refractive errors (Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism).
Who Can Have Laser?
As a result of the preliminary examination and tests, only people whose eye structure is found suitable for the operation can be treated with laser.
- Those who are over the age of 18,
- Those whose glasses or lens degrees have not changed more than 0.50 degrees in the last year,
- Those who have myopia up to -20 diopters,
- Those who have astigmatism up to -6 diopters,
- Those who have hyperopia up to +6 diopters,
- Those who have sufficient corneal tissue thickness, Excimer Laser can be applied to people with suitable eye structure.
The aim of the Lasik operation is to first protect the person's eye health and then to save them from glasses or lenses.
PHAKIC IOL SURGERY
Phakic-IOL is a method with definite and reliable results in high myopia and hyperopia. It is possible for high myopia and hyperopia eyes, whose eye structure is not suitable for laser treatment (for example; cornea thickness is thin), to have a clear vision without using glasses or lenses with Phakic-IOL surgery.
Who can have Phakic-IOL?
Phakic-IOL surgery is performed on people who are over 18 years of age and do not have glaucoma (eye pressure), certain retinal diseases and cataracts. The definite decision as to whether this treatment can be applied to your eye structure is made as a result of the detailed eye examination, the degree of your refractive error, the diameter of your pupil in the dark, as well as the examination of your corneal tissue with special tests.
ASTIGMATIC KERATOTOMY
It is a simple microsurgical method that can be applied to suitable eye structures and degrees of astigmatism. It is the application of 1 or 2 deep incisions of different lengths depending on the astigmatic degree to the steeper axis of the astigmatic eye, which has two perpendicular axis radii in the egg structure, but does not penetrate the cornea.
OCULOPLASTIC SURGERY
Oculoplastic surgery is an eye unit related to disorders affecting the eyelids, tear ducts and structures in the bone chamber around the eye called orbita and their surgical treatment.
Oculoplastic surgery is used in the treatment of eyelid disorders, cosmetic eyelid surgery, eyelid deformities, facial paralysis and malignant tumors in the eyelids.
VITREORETINAL SURGERY
Vitreoretinal surgery is an intervention that removes the gel-like substance (vitreous) at the back of the eye and allows surgical intervention to problems in the retina.
In Which Diseases Is It Applied?
The most common indications include diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhages, and macular holes.
GLAUCOMA SURGERY (INCLUDING SETON SURGERY)
It is a disease that occurs especially after the age of forty and progresses insidiously without giving any symptoms, leading to blindness. Irreversible damage occurs to the optic nerve due to increased intraocular fluid pressure. Over time, the peripheral vision fields of glaucoma patients narrow and their peripheral vision gradually decreases as in the picture. Regular eye examinations are very important since the disease progresses insidiously without giving any symptoms. Since glaucoma is irreversible after damage occurs, early diagnosis and treatment are of great importance for preserving vision. If the disease is diagnosed at an early stage, drops or simple laser treatment can be applied. Surgical treatment may be required in patients for whom drug treatment is not sufficient.
