"Motherhood Journey" begins! The Ministry is providing mobile support to expectant mothers

Following the increase in cesarean section rates, the Ministry of Health has initiated a study to direct expectant mothers to normal birth.

As a result of the studies carried out in recent days to protect the health of mothers and babies, the "Normal Birth Action Plan" was introduced. Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, physicians, midwives and expectant mothers, as well as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan were among those who attended the introduction program. The cesarean section rate, which is over 70 percent in private and university hospitals and over 40 percent in state hospitals, is limited to 15 percent by the WHO. The "Normal Birth Action Plan" aims to prevent cesarean section from being preferred except in cases that will endanger the health of the mother and baby, and to encourage expectant mothers to have a healthier normal birth.
